SHED
Concept Design
Studio Colora was approached by SHED to collaborate in the concept design for the draw machine and set layout intended for their client, Loto-Québec.
The project's directive was to conceive a fresh and innovative design for the draw machine, inspired on the captivating blend of retro-futurism. Additionally, Studio Colora was tasked with envisioning the accompanying set where the draw machine would be displayed, along with engineering the mechanics dictating how the winning numbers travel through the machine.
The result was the creation of a draw machine characterized by a sophisticated combination of gold metallic hues and transparent glass elements, achieving a remarkably sleek and evocative retro-futuristic aesthetic.
Final Concept
Set Design and Lottery Draw Machine
Below are the final concepts presented to the client, SHED. The first two images (top-left) illustrate the two set design moments. The three images (bottom-left) showcase the concepts that highlight the mechanics of the tray revealing the numbers. The final image (on the right) presents the concept for the lottery draw machine.

A collection of set design where created
As part of the creative research a collection of set design concepts where created, each exploring a distinct mood and atmosphere.

A series of lottery drawing machines where designed.
Below is a selection of some of the designs presented to the client SHED. The style of the drawing machines where influenced by the retro-futuristic movement, a blend of retro styles with futuristic technology, reflected in the shape language, colors and materials.

Exploration of style and materials
These concepts were developed to explore material choices and to try different silhouettes, combining the elegance of frosted glass with the appeal of gold.

Challenging the traditional design of draw machine.
Initially, some explorations were made to challenge the traditional stages of the drawing machine and expand the possibilities of how the balls could be shuffled.

We defined these stages in sequence, beginning with: The launcher, the mixer, the catcher, the anticipation, and the display panel.

Game mechanics explorations
In its early stages, we developed various game mechanics that could potentially be combined into a single drawing machine. The concept of having the camera track the adventure of a ball was particularly intriguing. The viewer could have experienced the entire journey as if they were the bal.
