Studio Colora had the pleasure of collaborating with the highly talented team from The Line Animation studio in the UK, for the character design and character layout phase of DEVIL DINOSAUR MECHA, featured in the action-packed promotional video for MARVEL SNAP Game produced by The Line Animation.
Our mission was to re-imagine the classic Devil Dinosaur from Marvel universe comic as a robotic MECHA Dinosaur from another dimension. The result? A dynamic and sleek character design, bursting with energy and showcasing a thrilling interpretation of this giant Marvel figure
Character design

Character design views
A key step in character design is presenting multiple views and detailed sections of the character's body. This helps animators and 3D designers clearly understand how to construct and animate the character from various angles and perspectives. The image below showcases different angles of the dinosaur, as well as a close-up of the laser system integrated into its jaw.
Character design perspectives
Based on the storyboard provided by the client, The Line, various angles and perspectives were created for the Devil Dinosaur Mecha. These designs showcase the full character from multiple viewpoints and camera angles, aiding the character layout team in visualizing the design more effectively.
Character design research
To arrive to a final character design multiple concepts were initially proposed to explore different avenues for Devil Dinosaur.
Below are the earlier Devil Dinosaur concept sketches.
A direction was chosen, and we can see the near-final version taking shape in the image below.
The first step of the process was to do some observation drawings to better understand the T-Rex's shapes and structure.
An inflatable version of the character was produced for Gamescom's Opening Night Live 2023.
